Passengers may carry free of charge baggage as specified and subject to the conditions and
limitations in THAI Regulations.

Checked baggage under the piece concept

General Information

Baggage allowance determination and checked baggage option apply through checked from the point of departure to the point of arrival without stopover at any of intermediate points. If passenger takes a stopover at an intermediate point, a new assessment of baggage allowance and baggage charge, if applicable, will be measured from the point of departure following the stopover.

Application to Thai Airways International Public Company Ltd.

When passengers travel with Thai Airways for domestic and international flights, passengers allowed carrying free of charge baggage which may include extra charge and subject to the conditions and limitations in THAI regulations.

Standard Free Baggage Allowance 

The piece concept allowance is applied by THAI across its global network for a journey:

Effective 25 November 2025, for sales, ticket issuance, and reissuance of totally unused tickets, and for travel commencing on or after 02 March 2026, a new baggage policy based on the Piece Concept will be implemented for the following routes:

  • Wholly within Thailand Domestic sector

  • A journey within TC3 (Asia, Australia, New Zealand)

  • A journey between TC2 (Europe, Africa, Middle East) and TC3 (Asia, Australia, New Zealand)

Effective 28 November 2025, for sales, ticket issuance, and reissuance of totally unused tickets, and for travel commencing on or after 02 March 2026, a new baggage policy based on the Piece Concept will be implemented for the following routes:

  • A journey between TC3 (Asia, Australia, New Zealand) and TC1 (North America, South America)

Checked Baggage – Dimension Allowance

 

Piece-Baggage

For all classes, each checked bag must not exceed a total dimension of 158 cm (62 inches) 

(height + width + length), including wheels and handles.

Checked Baggage – Weight Allowance

Piece-Baggage

Each piece may weigh up to 32 kg (70 lbs) for Royal First Class, Royal Silk Class and Premium Economy Plus Class.

Except for tickets issued to infants not occupying a seat.

 

Piece-Baggage

Each piece may weigh up to 23 kg (50 lbs) for Premium Economy Class and Economy Class.

High Important

  1. When a passenger is involuntarily reissue to a lower class of service, the higher-class baggage allowance shall be applied even though the refund for the fare difference is made.

  2. In case of travel on combined services for through journeys where the passenger travels in mixed classes (e.g., partly in C-, U-, or Y-class), the free baggage allowance shall be determined based on the highest class of service for which the fare is paid.

    For example, if the passenger has paid a C-class fare but travels partly in U-, or Y-class, the C-class baggage allowance shall apply.

  3. Foldable stroller or Wheel Chair can be loaded in compartment without additional charge, limit 1 Piece per passenger

  4. If your journey involves multiple airline partners, please be aware that baggage rule may vary. In case of code-share flights, the carrier performing as the Most Significant Carrier (MSC) determines the baggage rule, will be the Marketing Carrier unless that carrier publishes a rule stipulate that it will be the Operation Carrier. In some cases, the baggage rule that applied for your journey may those of our partner airlines.
