Thai Airways offers the Preferred Seats service to enhance your comfort throughout your journey. After purchasing your ticket, you can select and purchase a seat that best suits your needs—whether it's a front-row seat for quicker boarding and disembarkation, or a seat with extra legroom for added comfort.

Passengers traveling in Economy Class can select and purchase front-row seats or seats at emergency exits acording to their preference. Passengers traveling in Business Class can also select seats in the First Class zone, available on flights offering the Preferred Seats service.

*Passenger travelling with RBD W class will be eligible for ‘preferred seating’ only in the same aircraft zone.

The facillity is applied in one direction between two given points shown in the chargeable table. The chargeble rates are determined from the point of departure to the point of arrival without a stopover at any of the intermediate points and vary according to class of travel. If passenger takes a stopover at an intermediate point, a new assessment of the charges, if applicable, will be measured from the point of departure folowing the stopover.

If passenger’s journey involves multiple airline partners, please be aware that the chargeable rates are applied to THAI  flights, which are operated by THAI and multiple airline partners (Lufthansa / Austrian / Swiss International / Brussels Airlines / EVA Air). In case of codeshare flights, the carrier performing as the operating carrier may and/or may not have their own similar services provided. Please contact THAI Contact Center for further advice.

Exit row seats are situated either next to or immediately behind the emergency exit door

Passengers sitting in seat next to the emergency exit doors must :

  • Be willing and able to assist in operating the emergency exit door in the event of an evacuation and follow instructions provided by the cabin crew.
  • Be fully able-bodied and have sufficient physical dexterity, strength and mobility to open, operate and pass through the emergency exit doors without assistance and without impeding others.
  • Be able to understand evacuation procedure and crew instruction and verbally convey such information to other passengers.
  • Be in good health at the time of check-in, boarding, and during the flight

For safety reasons, Passengers who do not meet the following conditions are not eligible for emergency exit row seating :

  • Passengers under 15 years old of age on the date of the first flight
  • Passengers travelling with infants or children under 15 years old, elderly, passengers with restricted mobility, persons who require safety assistance for emergency evacuation,
  • Pregnant passengers
  • Passengers with restricted mobility (including those using wheelchairs or other assistive devices)
  • Passengers that are not in full fitness, or are too frail or impaired at time of travel.
  • Unaccompanied minors (UM) age 5-17 years
  • Buddhist monks/novices
  • Passengers travelling with escort dogs/services dogs, or other assistance animals.
  • Deportees/Inadmissible
  • Passengers requiring an extended seatbelt
  • Passengers with ‘Baggage in Seat’ (CBBG)

On the day of travel, passengers who have reserved seats in the emergency exit seat are required to check in exclusively at the Thai Airways check-in counter to allow staff to verify their eligibility in accordance with the applicable requirements. The airline reserves the right to reassign the seat of any passenger who does not meet the specified criteria without refund or compensation, even if the non-compliance is identified after check-in or onboard

The purchase of Preferred Seats is non-refundable and non-exchangeable, except when a passenger does not get seated on a purchased Preferred Seats due to an issue caused by THAI, in which case the fee will be fully refundable.  Preferred Seats purchase documents issued can be retained and use on another flight (original route) where Preferred Seats are available.

  • Rates are displayed in USD (U.S. Dollars) and will be converted to local currency using the Banker's Selling Rate on the date of purchase.
  • Preferred Seat charges are separate and do not impact passengers' baggage allowance, which may vary depending on cabin class, frequent flyer status, military status, travel itinerary, and date of purchase.
  • Additional discounts do not apply to the purchase of Preferred Seats.
  • Mileage is calculated based on the original paid fare and is not associated with the purchase of 'Preferred Seats'
  • Royal Silk Class passengers booked in C, D, or J class may select Preferred Seats located in the Royal First Class zone, available on THAI-operated flights offering two cabin classes (Royal Silk and Economy).
  • If you change your flight, your Preferred Seat selection will be automatically cancelled. To reselect the same seat (if available) or choose a similar one, please contact a THAI Office, the THAI Contact Center at (+66) 02-356-1111, or your local reservations office.

With the implementation of this new ancillary service, the seats with baby bassinet facility in economy class are now designated as ‘Preferred Seats’. Bassinet service for infants, please contact THAI Office or THAI Contact Center (+66) 02-356-1111 or at check-in (If available) and will be charged as 'preferred seat'. All eligible customers can purchase Preferred Seat, if available.

You can purchase the Preferred Seats service online at THAI Airways Website, THAI Mobile Application or at the local ticketing office, through the THAI Contact Center ((+66) 2 3561111) at least 48 hours before departure, at the check-in counter, or onboard the aircraft (subject to availability).

It is not possible to purchase Preferred Seat from Bangkok to Domestic flights in Thailand right now.

Preferred Seats are available on Thai Airways flights and those of participating partner airlines (only on flights where the service is offered).

ROP does not currently allow the redemtion of miles for Preferred Seat

If a passenger cancels their trip, the Preferred Seats service fee is non-refundable. However, the passenger can retain the Preferred Seat purchase document (Preferred Seat) for use on another flight along the same route, with a validity of 1 year from the date of issuance of the Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) confirming the purchase of the Preferred Seat (subject to seat availability).

Our system will assign a similar seat to the passenger, but the seat position may change.

In the event that the new flight or aircraft does not offer Preferred Seats, the passenger will receive a full refund of the service fee.

If you decide to change your flight , your Preferred Seat will be automatically cancelled .To reselect the same Preferred Seat if available or reselect the similar Preferred Seat, please contact THAI Office or THAI Contact Center ( +66 2 356-1111)

The Preferred Seats service does not allow destination changes. If the destination is changed, the Preferred Seat will be automatically canceled, and you will need to purchase the Preferred Seat service again according to the updated itinerary.

If the ticket is issued by another airline, but the passenger is traveling on a flight operated by Thai Airways, the passenger can purchase the Preferred Seat service online at www.thaiairways.com, via the THAI Mobile app, through the THAI Contact Center at least 48 hours before departure, at the check-in counter, or onboard (subject to availability). For partner airlines including Lufthansa, Swiss Air, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and EVA Air, passengers can purchase the Preferred Seat service directly through those airlines or via their official websites.

  • Online E-receipt is available to all passengers through website passenger may request receipt through  E-RECEIPT THAI will sent the e-receipt via email.
